Mouse Guard 1152 #3

Writer & Artist: David Petersen

You will freeze reading this issue. David Petersen is blurring the lines between colorist and inker and artist since he is doing it all, and this gorgeous panel shows what can happen if the artist has the luxury of controlling the whole process. I think it is the white lines around the icicles that make this so lifelike, notwithstanding it’s cartoon style.

I remember, years ago, my Father complaining about an upcoming ice storm and I said it was going to be great! I was anticipating no school and the transformation of the trees into beautiful gleaming crystals. He was anticipating no electricity and no heat! The poor mice in this story have to suffer all the trials an ice storm can offer, but this panel captures the visual magic of an ice storm.
